2021 Avenger
42% Syrah, 23% Mourvèdre, 21% Grenache, 9% Petite Sirah, 5% Carignan. A super yummy concoction where all 5 cast members nail their roles: Syrah, the friendly big guy. Mourvèdre, the introspective philosopher. Petite Sirah, the strong silent type, Grenache, complex and cerebral and Carignan, that character that always keeps you guessing. Seductive aromatics of brambleberry, tobacco and new saddle leather coax you to a palate that is medium to full bodied. Filled with complex notions of fresh baked bread, blackberry preserves, pepper and cocoa, it finishes with ample structure and complimenting tannins topped with a dash of umami. Built for the long haul, it is quite approachable out of the chute. Drink 2023-2033
"Blueberries, darker cherries, pepper, and leafy herbs all emerge from the 2021 Avenger, a medium to full-bodied blend based on 42% Syrah, 23% Mourvèdre, 21% Grenache, 9% Petite Sirah, and the rest Carignan. This beauty has terrific purity, ripe yet building tannins, outstanding balance, and a great finish."

2021 This Way That Way
50% Grenache, 50% Mourvèdre
50% MAHA, 50% James Berry Vineyard
Like all great partners, Grenache and Mourvèdre compliment one another in every way, much like Calvin and Hobbs, Han and Chewie, and Venus and Serena. Its vermilion color lures you in for an explosion of aromas that jump starts the olfactory system with notes of Tunisian spices, fresh flowers, clementines, hashish and musk. The palate is textural and concentrated offering a finish that goes on for days. A bit of short term cellaring will the play here. If you have to be like Veruca Salt, double decant it, sit back and enjoy the show. Drink 2024-2036
"Looking at the wines from bottle, the 2021 This Way That Way is equal parts Grenache and Mourvèdre that spent 15 months in barrel. There are a scant 200 cases made, but it's worth tracking down. Black cherries, mulberries, pepper, leather, incense, and herbal notes flow to a medium to full-bodied red with ripe yet building tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. Give it a year or two."
