2017 Avenger
70% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache. Avenger is the Syrah based blend that started the Villa Creek brand in 2001. This Avenger is a handsome, athletic creature that straddles both the old world and new. Ethereal aromatics of blueberries, blackberries, boysenberry,crushed rock, and graphite lead to a palate that is both rich and elegant with fantastic concentration, stunning purity, and perfect balance. 2017 Fiano
100% Fiano. This Fiano’s twinkling pale honey color is deceiving. The wine is rich while still lively, fruited and savory. Aromas of freshly sliced apples with a squeeze of lemon engage the nose. The first sip is at once electric and elegant with notes of apricots and marmalade, lavender and a hint of clove. The minerality lingers and makes this wine the perfect complement to your holiday raw bar. Drink now and for the next 5 years.
2017 Garnacha
100% Grenache. This vintage has a purity of fruit, richness and overall YUMMINESS. A blend of MAHA Estate and Luna Matta, Garnacha is 50% whole cluster and was aged in older French barrels. The nose boasts aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate, cinnamon and anise. Elegant and seamless, the palate transcends to another level offering a mouthful of pure pleasure. Medium to full bodied, the purity and precision of fruit here make for a wine that will be hard to keep your hands off. Someone recently said that Grenache delivers everything that Pinot Noir promises. Blind taste your Pinot-loving friends on this wine and they will be SOLD on Grenache! 2017 High Road
40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 30% Mourvèdre. It has been years since Grenache has taken center stage in this wine. Dark and heady, it expresses intoxicating notes of exotic red and purple fruits, licorice, orange peel and spice. Generous but not heavy on its feet it conjures black fruits, watermelon, five spice, with a wonderful umami component that has you wanting for more. It needs a bit of short term cellaring but if you can’t wait, decant it in the the AM before work, place in your cellar and dream about what awaits you when you return home. Drink 2020-2030
2017 Roussanne
100% Roussanne. Irresistible aromas and flavors of salted caramel pear tartan with a butter crust are followed by marzipan and white pepper spice. This is a medium to full bodied white that we love to drink with oil poached tuna with almonds and raisins. (recipe with your shipment). Don’t hesitate to serve this wine at the end of your meal perhaps with vanilla poached pears and cheese. Drink now and through 2029. This is a fun one to track so stock the cellar!
2017 Willow Creek Cuvée
70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre. Since 2001, Villa Creek has been about blending. This year’s cuvée combines three sites: Luna Matta, James Berry, and MAHA. This sexy beast is well appointed in its inky purple suit (think Prince in Purple Rain). The nose is intoxicating with plum, red fruits, wet limestone and local mountain herbs. Offering a generous portion of the above, it has a keen focus on the end game…to pair well with many types of cuisine and to make you look good when you bring it to a dinner party!
